Professor

Prof. Omondi Oyoo is an Associate Professor in the department of clinical Medicine and Therapeutics , School of Medicine , University of Nairobi, and Head of rheumatology unit and Ward 7D at the Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.
Prof.Oyoo received his medical degree from the University of Nairobi and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Nairobi.

Honors

2016: Designated foundation fellow of East Central and Southern Africa College of Physicians

2015: Awarded international membership of the British Society for Rheumatology

2010: Appointed Bone and Joint Decade Ambassador by the International Steering Committee, the Bone and Joint Decade Governing Council in appreciation of the role in promoting the goals of the Bone and Joint Decade and in recognition of distinguished professional excellence and service to colleagues and people affected by musculoskeletal disorders.

2010: Proclaimed as a Great Mind of the 21st Century due to significant accomplishments within and mastery of rheumatology by the Governing Board of Editors of the American Biographical Institute.

2009: Elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh.

2004: Certificate of Recognition for Distinguished Contribution at the E-poster Session at the Bone and Joint Decade (BJD) Annual World Network Conference held on September 23-25, 2004 in Beijing, Peoples Republic of China.

2003: Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Programme, Department of State, United States of America.

2001: Epidemiology Scholarship, International League of Associations for Rheumatology. 1999: Elected as an International Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR).

1998: Centre of International Cooperation, State of Israel Scholarship to study rheumatology at Tel Aviv University.

1998: Merit Award for Outstanding Service in the Kiambu Early Youth Participatory Education on HIV/AIDS Prevention Project sponsored by CIDA and ADRA Canada.

1995: GlaxoWellcome/Kenya Association of Physicians Award for the Best Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine student for 1995 at the University of Nairobi.

1978: Best Overall Student at Sawagongo High School, Siaya County, Kenya.

1974: Best Overall Student at Lundha Primary School, Siaya County, Kenya.
