The 3-day seminar, held in four cohorts was an initiative from the Deputy Vice Chancellor’s office- Research, Production and Extension was held at the University of Nairobi’s Chiromo campus. Three of the department’s staff, Judy Kamau, Pauline Nganga and Teresia Mutavi benefitted from this fruitful seminar.
In a field that is already quite understaffed, the Department of Psychiatry is sad to report the loss of one of our M. Med Psychiatry students, Edwin Khayo on 3rd June 2016 to a tragic road traffic accident. The Department of Psychiatry on behalf of the University of Nairobi passes our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Edwin Khayo.
The 8th Kenya Psychiatrists Association Annual Scientific Conference, whose theme this year was “Depression: A global crisis” was held at Outspan Hotel, Nyeri (26TH-28TH May 2016). The university was well represented by Faculty, M. Med (Psych) and MSc Clinical Psychology students, and even more impressively 5th year undergraduate medical students who gave a brilliant presentation on burn out among medical students.
Africa Mental Health Foundation (AMHF) is a non-governmental organization, based in Kenya dedicated to research in mental and neurological health and, substance use to generate evidence for policy and best practice in the provision of affordable, appropriate, available and accessible mental health services.
This is a one day symposium organised by the Kenya Psychiatric Association and Chiromo Lane Medical centre
